ICC Berlin: Photography for a multi-stage communications project

For Berlin Partner, different members of our photography team covered the ICC concept process from a dedicated architectural production and the official launch of the procedure to the presentation of the award recommendation. The images were subsequently used on the project website, in an extensive brochure and in press and social media communications.

Long-Term Client Support

One project, three assignments and a consistent visual language

Berlin Partner for Business and Technology has been one of our regular clients for five years. Under the framework agreement, different members of our team regularly cover events and communications assignments.

The ICC concept process began with a dedicated architectural series of the disused building. The photographs were intended to reveal the architectural potential of the ICC and provide flexible visual material for the website, media information and publications.

Two different photographers from our team covered the press and communications events marking the official launch of the international concept process on 25 November 2024 and the presentation of the award recommendation on 24 June 2026.

The challenge

A listed building and a process requiring long-term communications

The photography had to communicate both the distinctive architecture of the ICC and the political, professional and media milestones of the process in a clear visual narrative.

The images needed to work in very different formats: as a large website hero, as a double-page spread in a brochure, in press information, presentations and rapid social media posts. At the same time, both press events had to be documented fully as independent stories.

The architectural series was designed from the outset to provide overall views, interiors, details and portrait formats for different editorial applications.

Empty halls, technical foyers, escalators, metal façades and the building’s integration into City West: the series combines documentary overviews with graphic, atmospheric images.

Several productions delivered reliably by one team

The assignments were carried out by two different photographers from our team. For the client, this means predictable availability, a shared quality standard and a reliable working approach over several years.

In addition to the central speeches, the press conferences produced room overviews, media work, conversations, group photographs, architectural context and sufficient variations for current communications.

Official launch of the international concept procedure

The first press conference took place inside the ICC itself, allowing the coverage to connect political communications, media work and the building’s extraordinary architecture directly.

The second press conference focused on the selected usage concept, architectural models, presentations and the project partners involved. The coverage provided immediately usable material for announcing the next milestone.

Result

A visual framework for architecture, process and public communications

Three separate productions created a coherent body of images that visually accompanies the ICC concept process over several years.

The case also demonstrates the practical value of a long-term collaboration: different team members can be deployed as needed while the process, quality standard and visual language remain reliable for the client.

The photographs support public communications from the launch of the process through to the award recommendation.
