After three days at the trade fair, InnoTrans 2022 came to an end for our event photography team following seven separate assignments. InnoTrans is an international trade fair for transport technology, with a particular focus on rail transport, held at Messe Berlin.
For six different clients, our team of three photographers completed seven assignments both at the exhibition grounds and at off-site events. Here are a few impressions from those projects.
The day before InnoTrans opened, we photographed the 30th anniversary celebration of one of the Rail.S member companies. High above the rooftops of Berlin, CIDEON Energy welcomed guests and business partners to a relaxed evening of barbecue and industry conversation.

Companies from infrastructure, transport and rail are not the only ones represented at InnoTrans. The trade fair also attracts businesses that may not immediately be associated with the rail sector, including the Chinese technology and telecommunications company Huawei. Best known to many for smartphones, Huawei is also heavily involved in rail transport—from onboard Wi-Fi to digital radio systems. At the 9th Huawei InnoTrans Summit, held alongside the trade fair at the Grand Hyatt Berlin, experts from around the world discussed the future of communication on rail. We were there to photograph the event.

For the Schunk Group, we spent a full day documenting activity at its exhibition stand. Schunk is an international company based in Hesse, specialising in materials technology and mechanical engineering. At InnoTrans, its Transit Systems business unit presented products for rail technology and electric vehicles, including pantographs for trains and roof-mounted current collectors for electric buses.

The first fully operational steam locomotive was invented and built in Saxony and ran on the Dresden–Leipzig railway. It is therefore no surprise that Rail.S was represented at InnoTrans with several stands. Under this umbrella, major companies from Saxony presented innovations, technologies, materials and infrastructure for rail transport. Saxony’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Martin Dulig, also visited the stands during an official tour.
