Arriving, finding your bearings, capturing the atmosphere

An international tech conference with a strong visual identity.

Historic industrial architecture, vivid stage branding and an international audience shaped the visual language of UXDX EMEA. From the opening moments, wide venue views, details and first networking images established the character of the conference.

The context

Product, design, research and engineering in one shared conference format.

UXDX brings together international professionals from product, design, research and engineering. The conference language, briefing and ongoing coordination with the Ireland-based organiser were conducted entirely in English.

The photographic brief was to document the many speakers, focused audience, interactive moments, partner areas and networking consistently across two long conference days – while continuously providing images ready for immediate use.

Talks, panels and reactions

Speaker photographs alone do not tell the full story of a conference.

Alongside clear images of the talks, audience reactions, interaction, moderation and varied stage situations are essential to complete conference coverage. This creates material that supports individual sessions as well as communication around the event as a whole.

One photographer, two full conference days

Continuous attention instead of a rigid shot list.

For a long conference covered by one photographer, prioritisation and a strong sense of rhythm are essential. Talks, audience, breaks and partner areas were interwoven so that no part of the programme remained out of view for long.

Our established Picdrop workflow enabled continuous delivery at the same time. The client could access new images during the conference day without waiting for a complete post-event delivery.

01Read the programme: Speakers, panels and interactive moments were prioritised according to relevance and visual variety.

02Add atmosphere: Audience, breaks, partners and the venue turned individual talks into a complete conference story.

03Edit continuously: Selected images were completed throughout the day and made available directly via Picdrop.

04Complete each day: By the end of each assignment, every image from that day had been fully edited.

Interaction and hybrid production

The conference took place in the hall, on smartphones and via livestream at the same time.

Technology, streaming, live polls and direct audience participation were visible elements of the format. We deliberately included this layer because it communicates the conference’s digital character and international reach.

Networking and partner areas

Professional exchange continued between the sessions.

Open conversations, partner stands, workshop moments and the distinctive architecture of BOLLE Festsäle extended the visual narrative beyond the stage.

Images in use

From the organiser to the speakers – and from there across their networks.

UXDX made the photographs available to the speakers. Many participants published their own posts, which the organiser then picked up and shared further. The continuous image delivery therefore generated broad organic visibility across numerous personal networks.
